Dr.
Brian Driscoll, Director of Music There are four choirs active in music ministry at The Church of the Epiphany: the Parish Choir, the Choristers, the Epiphany Schola, and the Trainer Choir. Below is information on each of these choirs. Please contact Brian (bdriscoll@tcote.org) for information on how to get your child or yourself involved. The Parish Choir, open to all adults and young adults, sings at the majority of liturgies each year. Additionally, they lead several Evensong services and Services in the Style of Taizé. The Parish Choir rehearses on Thursdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (mid-September through May). The
Epiphany Choristers is
a music-education and
Christian-formation opportunity open to all boys and girls in 3rd grade
or higher. Choristers learn a The Epiphany Schola is a small chamber choir that leads liturgies about a dozen times a year, including an Evensong service in January, Compline in March, and the Easter Vigil service. Experienced singers with good reading skills should contact Brian for more information about this exciting new ministry opportunity. The Trainer Choir (open to boys and girls 2nd grade and up) is the "training" choir for the Choristers, where great Choristers are made. Trainers learn to enjoy listening to and making music, basic singing skills, how to use the hymnal, how to follow the liturgy and (eventually) lead the music for services, the importance of being a good team member, and to develop their skills of focus and concentration. They sing with the Choristers on Christmas Eve at the 7:00 pm service and once or twice in the spring. Weekly rehearsals are Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (mid-September through May). Participation in the Trainer Choir program requires a commitment, but is free. The historic Hook & Hook organ, restored and installed at Epiphany in 1999, continues to be a joy and is a great asset to The Church of the Epiphany. |
